There was a strong effort by Insomniac Games to develop Resistance 4, but unfortunately, the project never received the green light. In recent interviews, following the announcement of his retirement after 30 years as the studio's leader, Insomniac Games founder and outgoing president Ted Price shared insights into this unmade game. During a chat with Kinda Funny Games, Price was asked about his favorite game concept that was pitched but never came to fruition. He responded with, “Yeah, I’ll share one. Resistance 4.”

According to Price, the team at Insomniac had pitched Resistance 4 and developed a wonderful concept. However, due to timing and market opportunities, it did not move forward. He emphasized the team's passion for expanding the story, noting that the Resistance series had established a compelling alternate history framework where the narrative could explore new dimensions with the Chimera, their origins, and future developments.

The Resistance series, a collection of first-person shooters developed by Insomniac, followed their work on the Ratchet and Clank games. Set in an alternate history where aliens invade the UK in 1951, the series comprised three games released for the PlayStation 3 before Insomniac shifted focus to other projects, such as Marvel’s Spider-Man and new Ratchet and Clank titles.

Earlier this year, Price announced his retirement from Insomniac Games after over three decades with the company. He has appointed Chad Dezern, Ryan Schneider, and Jen Huang as Co-Studio Heads to succeed him.

Insomniac Games' latest release, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, recently became available on PC, and their upcoming project is Marvel’s Wolverine.
