Japanese Switch 2 Priced Lower Than Global Version
The much-anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 will come with different pricing strategies for Japan and the rest of the world. Enthusiasts and gamers should take note of the variations in system versions and their respective prices to make informed purchasing decisions.
Switch 2 Will Have 2 Language System Versions

The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch with two distinct versions: a Japanese-language system, available exclusively in Japan, and a Multi-Language System for worldwide markets. The Japanese version is expected to be priced at approximately $330, while the Multi-Language System will cost $449.99. This significant price gap of over $100 can be largely attributed to the current exchange rate between the yen and the U.S. dollar, which makes purchasing in Japan less attractive for international tourists.
Residents of Japan have the option to purchase the Multi-Language System if they prefer. However, the Japanese-language version is exclusively available within Japan and can only be linked to Nintendo Accounts set to the Japanese region. This version supports only the Japanese language and is limited to software available on the Japanese Nintendo eShop.
Nintendo advises fans who wish to use the Switch 2 in multiple languages to opt for the Multi-Language System version. Further details about this version will be unveiled on April 4.
Switch 2 Will Be Sold By Lottery At The My Nintendo Store

To get your hands on the Nintendo Switch 2, you'll need to enter a lottery through the My Nintendo Store. Starting on April 24, retailers and online shops across Japan will also open reservations or lottery entries, subject to availability. To participate in the My Nintendo Store lottery, you must meet the following criteria:
- By February 28, 2025, you must have logged at least 50 hours of playtime on Nintendo Switch software, excluding demo and free software.
- At the time of application, you must have been a subscriber to Nintendo Switch Online for a cumulative period of at least one year.
Additional information regarding the application process will be available on the My Nintendo Store on April 4.
