Jason Momoa's portrayal of Lobo in the upcoming 2026 DC Universe film Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow has sparked excitement among fans. Lobo, an alien interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter from the planet Czarnia, is known for his superhuman strength and immortality. Created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, Lobo first appeared in Omega Men #3 in 1983. As the last survivor of his now-dead world, similar to Superman, Lobo brings a unique edge to the DC Universe.

Momoa, who previously played Aquaman in the now-defunct DC Extended Universe (DCEU), is thrilled to take on the role of Lobo in the rebooted DC Universe (DCU). He has expressed that Lobo is his favorite comic book character, citing aesthetic similarities between himself and the character. In an interview with ScreenRant, Momoa hinted at Lobo's appearance in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, suggesting that while fans will get a good look at the character, his screen time will be brief.

"Well, this is the role I've always wanted to play," Momoa shared. "That's the comic I loved, so I'm really nervous about it. It's kind of a no-brainer to play this character. It's pretty big. I don't want to give away too much, but I mean, we look pretty dead on, exactly like the character, and he's pretty rough and gruff and… I'll say the bike's really cool."

When asked about how much screen time Lobo will have, Momoa responded, "It's her movie, so it's great. I just come in for a little bit."

In January, DC co-chief James Gunn shared the first photo of Milly Alcock as Supergirl, though it didn't reveal much. Gunn announced on Bluesky that filming for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow had begun, starring House of the Dragon's Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl.

The movie draws heavily from the graphic novel by Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Ana Norgueira. The story follows an alien girl named Ruthye Marye Knoll, who enlists Supergirl's help to avenge her father's murder by the villain Krem of the Yellow Hills. Matthias Schoenaerts plays Krem, while Eve Ridley portrays Ruthye. The cast also includes David Krumholtz as Supergirl's father Zor-El and Emily Beecham as Supergirl's mother.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is set to release in June 2026, following the DCU's first film, Superman, which hits theaters this summer. The DCU's Clayface movie is scheduled for September 2026.
