The now 22-year-old star, known for her roles in Netflix's Wednesday series and the upcoming Beetlejuice Beetlejuice movie, made her film debut at the tender age of 11 in 2013's Iron Man 3. In the movie, Ortega plays the daughter of Vice President Rodriguez, portrayed by Miguel Ferrer. During a Christmas family scene, Rodriguez kisses his daughter on the forehead, and the camera pans down to reveal Ortega in a wheelchair, having lost a limb.

Fast forward 12 years, and Ortega was asked by Entertainment Weekly about her experience with the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). She humorously reflected on her minor role, mentioning that Marvel Studios significantly cut down her part. "I did it once," Ortega said. "It was one of the first jobs I ever did. They took all my lines out. I'm in Iron Man 3 for a quick second. I take up the frame, I have one leg and I'm the vice president's daughter."

Her co-star in the upcoming film Death of a Unicorn, Paul Rudd, who is famous for playing Ant-Man in the MCU, also chimed in with a jest about Marvel's tendency to plant seeds for future storylines. "And so it might very well be that you come back," Rudd suggested, "that they are going to create something for you, 'cause they should be so lucky to have Jenna Ortega in their franchise."

However, Ortega cast doubt on the possibility of returning to the MCU, humorously noting, "They even took my name away," she interjected. "I'm really… but I just… I count that, and then I move on." Her role, initially perhaps intended to be more substantial, was reduced to a fleeting moment in the final cut of Iron Man 3. Despite this, Ortega has since become one of the most recognized actors globally. Should Marvel Studios consider her for a new role in the MCU, it's likely she would be open to the opportunity.

Iron Man 3, while considered one of the weaker entries in the MCU, was a massive box office success, grossing over $1.2 billion worldwide. It ranks as the ninth highest-grossing superhero film of all time, surpassing films like Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Captain Marvel.
