The storyline centers around the Rune of Change, one of the 27 True Runes that have shaped the world. The protagonist, Hou, the son of a village chief, experiences a pivotal moment after his first successful hunt when his village is attacked. This disaster propels Hou on a quest to restore peace, accompanied by Hisui, his servant with a mysterious emotional suppression; Shirin, his childhood friend driven by a strong sense of justice; and Shapur, a former general now serving as a butler.

While the announcement of Suikoden STAR LEAP has stirred excitement, it has also sparked some debate within the community. Long-time fans have been eagerly awaiting a proper continuation of the series, and the introduction of a gacha-based mobile game has left some feeling uncertain about the direction Konami is taking.
