Following Project KV's September 8th cancellation, Studio Vikundi emerged on X (formerly Twitter) with a statement. The studio affirmed their commitment to Project VK, emphasizing its independent nature and non-profit status. They clarified that while Project KV served as inspiration, Project VK is an original creation, unrelated to Blue Archive or Project KV, and committed to ethical development practices. They directly addressed concerns about the unprofessional conduct of the Project KV team, vowing a different approach.

Project KV faced swift cancellation after significant online criticism regarding its similarity to Blue Archive. Accusations of plagiarism encompassed visual style, music, and core game mechanics – a Japanese city populated by female students wielding weapons. The developers' prior work at Nexon Games on Blue Archive fueled the controversy. Dynamis One, the studio behind Project KV, announced the cancellation just a week after releasing a second teaser.
