Lara Croft, the iconic Tomb Raider, is officially joining the cast of Dead by Daylight, Behaviour Interactive has revealed. This highly anticipated addition follows months of speculation and confirms the legendary heroine's entry into the Survivor roster. The announcement comes shortly after the release of Chapter 32: Dungeons & Dragons, adding another celebrated gaming icon to the already impressive lineup.

Dead by Daylight's recent additions have included prominent figures like Vecna (from Stranger Things), Chucky (Child's Play), and Alan Wake. Now, Lara Croft, originally created by Toby Gard for the 1996 Tomb Raider, takes center stage. The Lara Croft addition will be available on all platforms July 16th, with early access for PC players via a Steam public test build. While an official trailer showcasing her in-game skills is pending, PC players will be the first to experience her unique perks and gameplay. Behaviour Interactive describes her as "the ultimate survivor," a fitting title given her history of navigating perilous adventures. Her in-game model will be based on the 2013 Survivor trilogy reboot.

Beyond Lara Croft's arrival, Behaviour Interactive's 8th-anniversary livestream unveiled exciting new content: a 2v8 mode pitting two Killers against eight Survivors; a collaboration with Supermassive Games featuring Frank Stone; and a new Castlevania chapter slated for later this year.

The timing is interesting, given the recent release of Aspyr's Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered collection and a PS5 port of Tomb Raider: Legend (though reception to the latter has been mixed). Further fueling the Lara Croft resurgence is an upcoming animated TV series, Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, set for October 2024, featuring Hayley Atwell (Peggy Carter from the MCU) as Lara's voice.
