Second Life, the social MMO recently announced for mobile, is now available in a public beta for iOS and Android. Download it from the App Store and Google Play.

Access requires a Premium account, so free-to-play gamers may be disappointed. However, this beta release promises a significant increase in information regarding the mobile version.

For those unfamiliar, Second Life is a pioneering MMO emphasizing social interaction over traditional gameplay elements like combat or exploration. It predates the current metaverse hype and introduced concepts like social gaming and user-generated content to the mainstream. Released in 2003, players create and live as their chosen avatars.
