Luigi’s Mansion 3 (2019)

Luigi's first starring role on the Switch came with Luigi’s Mansion 3, the third installment in his solo ghostbusting series. In this adventure, Luigi, alongside his green gooey clone, teams up with Professor E. Gadd to battle ghosts and rescue his friends from King Boo’s haunted hotel.

Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD (2024)

Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD is a high-definition remake of the 2013 Nintendo 3DS game, Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon. In this sequel, Luigi navigates the haunted mansions of Evershade Valley to capture King Boo and save his brother once more.

Mario & Luigi: Brothership (2024)

While not solely a Luigi game, Mario & Luigi: Brothership places both brothers on equal footing. This marks the first new entry in the Mario & Luigi series since Paper Jam in 2014. Players control both brothers as they tackle puzzles and platforming challenges to restore the kingdom of Concordia.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (2017)

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was the first Switch game to feature Luigi as a playable character. As a middleweight racer, Luigi offers a well-balanced stat distribution with a slight edge in speed and handling. His iconic appearance in an ad for the original Wii U version of Mario Kart 8 led to the famous Luigi Death Stare meme.

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle (2017)

Luigi made his next appearance in the Nintendo-Ubisoft collaboration, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. This tactical RPG includes both Luigi and Rabbid Luigi, a Rabbid who mimics Luigi's style and behavior, as potential party members.

Mario Tennis Aces (2018)

Luigi took to the court as one of 16 playable characters in Mario Tennis Aces. Known for his balanced stats in Mario sports games, Luigi's specialty shot, Pipe Cannon, propels him into the air for a powerful spike.

Super Mario Party (2018)

Luigi is one of 20 playable characters in Super Mario Party. As Mario's younger brother, he has been a staple in every Mario Party game, including the subsequent titles on this list. This was the first Mario Party game for the Switch and ranks as Nintendo’s ninth best-selling game on the platform, according to the company.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (2018)

Luigi is an unlockable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, one of 12 characters to appear in all five Smash games. According to LumiRank’s 2025 tier list, which aggregates the opinions of 93 ranked Smash players, Luigi is an A+-tier fighter and ranks 18th overall.

New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe (2019)

Luigi is a playable character in New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, an expanded version of the Wii U game that includes the New Super Luigi U expansion. In this expansion, Luigi stars with his higher jump, remixed levels, and a challenging 100-second timer per level.

Super Mario Maker 2 (2019)

In Super Mario Maker 2, Luigi joins Mario, Toad, and Toadette as one of four playable characters. This level-building platformer lets players craft their own Mario levels using assets from various Mario games.

Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury (2021)

In Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, players can choose to play entirely as Luigi, who controls similarly to Mario but with a slightly higher jump and less traction, giving him a more 'floaty' and 'slippery' feel.

Mario Golf: Super Rush (2021)

Luigi tees off in Mario Golf: Super Rush as one of 22 playable characters. With excellent speed and decent control, he's well-suited for the game's new Speed Golf mode. His special shot, Ice Flower Freeze, creates a frozen hazard on the course.

Mario Party Superstars (2021)

Luigi returns in Mario Party Superstars, the second Mario Party game on Switch. Unlike its predecessor, Superstars is a collection of classic minigames, boards, and mechanics from the series' history.

Mario Strikers: Battle League Football (2022)

In Mario Strikers: Battle League Football, Luigi is one of 16 playable characters. Known for his balanced stats, he excels in technique, which affects dribbling, shot curving, and shooting accuracy.

Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope (2022)

Luigi and Rabbid Luigi return in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, the tactical sequel from Ubisoft and Nintendo. Luigi is classified as a Sneak Attacker, equipped with ranged weapons but lower health.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder (2023)
