In their quest to maintain the game's excitement level, NetEase revealed they'll add new heroes monthly rather than the original two-per-season plan. Creative Director Guangguang and Lead Combat Designer Zhiyong shared these updates in Marvel Rivals' Dev Vision Vol. 05 on April 4.

Developers plan to reduce season lengths from three months to two while introducing a fresh hero each month. "After careful consideration, we're shifting to two-month seasons beginning with Season 3, featuring a new hero every month," Guangguang explained.

"Community feedback has encouraged us to maintain the energy we launched with," Guangguang noted. The team is also evaluating potential new game modes to complement this accelerated release schedule, potentially enabling up to 12 new heroes annually.

While hero balance remains a priority, Guangguang told PC Gamer on March 14: "We rely on comprehensive metrics—pick rates, win rates, and ability effectiveness—to guide our balancing decisions."

Season 2 Details and Future Plans

The Dev Vision showcased Season 2: Hellfire Gala, where Emma Frost invites heroes to Krakoa. This telepathic X-Men antagonist with diamond-transmutation abilities joins as a Vanguard character.

The season trailer revealed formal cosmetic variants for Luna Snow, Magneto, Cloak and Dagger, and Black Panther - reflecting Marvel's elite Hellfire Club aesthetic.

Following Emma Frost, Season 2.5 will introduce Ultron. The Hellfire Gala trailer hints at his assault on Krakoa with drone swarms, though full details remain forthcoming.
