Marvel Rivals has listened to its community and reversed its earlier decision on player rank resets mid-season. The official Marvel Rivals Twitter (X) account announced this change, highlighting a shift from their previous plan outlined in Dev Talk 10.

Originally, the game's update suggested a reset that would drop players down four divisions every 45 days, sparking widespread criticism for being discouraging, especially for those striving to climb the ranks. In response to the backlash, Dev Talk 11 confirmed that there will be no mid-season rank reset. Players will now keep their scores and ranks from the first half of the season. However, the end-of-season rank reset will still occur, with players dropping down six divisions.

Human Torch, The Thing, And Other Updates Still On The Way

Despite the change in rank reset policy, Marvel Rivals is moving forward with other planned updates. The introduction of new heroes, Human Torch and The Thing, is on track, expanding the roster to 39 heroes. NetEase Games has committed to adding two new playable characters each season, with each season lasting three months.

Rewards for players who achieve Gold rank and above remain unchanged. Those reaching Gold after the update will receive a free Invisible Woman costume, while players at Grandmaster rank and above will be awarded Crests of Honor. Additionally, new rewards for those reaching Gold at the end of the season will include another free costume and Crests of Honor for Grandmaster and above.

Balance adjustments are also expected post the mid-season update, though specific details are yet to be disclosed.
