Mass Effect Voice Actress Wants Original Cast to Return for TV Series
Jennifer Hale, the iconic voice of FemShep in the original Mass Effect trilogy, expressed her enthusiasm for Amazon's upcoming live-action adaptation. She voiced her desire to participate in the series and advocated for the inclusion of as many original voice actors as possible.
Amazon secured the rights to adapt the Mass Effect games in 2021, and the TV series is now under development at Amazon MGM Studios. The project boasts a notable team, including Michael Gamble (Mass Effect project leader), Karim Zreik (former Marvel Television producer), Avi Arad (movie producer), and Daniel Casey (Fast & Furious 9 writer).
The challenge of adapting Mass Effect's branching narrative and customizable protagonist, Commander Shepard, is significant. However, Hale, in an interview with Eurogamer, championed the idea of reuniting the original voice cast. She highlighted the exceptional talent within the voice acting community, urging production companies to recognize their contributions.
Hale's Hope for a Return
Hale naturally favors a live-action portrayal of FemShep, the character she originated. However, she expressed her willingness to take on any role in the series, echoing her excitement about a potential return in future BioWare Mass Effect games. She emphasized the exceptional talent of the voice acting community, stating, "The voice acting community are some of the most brilliant performers I've ever met [...] So I'm ready for the smart production company that stops overlooking that gold mine."
The Mass Effect universe is populated by memorable characters brought to life by a talented ensemble of voice actors and celebrities. The return of actors like Brandon Keener (Garrus Vakarian), Raphael Sbarge (Kaidan Alenko), or Hale herself would undoubtedly delight long-time fans of the franchise.
