Bring Large Dung Pods

Facing Hirabami in Monster Hunter Wilds is no easy task. These creatures prefer to fight in packs, which can be overwhelming. To manage this, bring Large Dung Pods. These invaluable items will scatter the monsters, allowing you to take them down one at a time, making the fight more manageable.

Use Heavy Slicing Pod Slinger Ammo

Hirabami's tendency to hover in the air can be particularly frustrating, especially for melee weapon users. Ranged weapon users, like those wielding Bows, have an advantage here. For melee fighters, using Heavy Slicing Pod Slinger ammo can ground these creatures. If you're out of ammo, target Hirabami's tail; it'll drop a Tail Claw Shard, which can be transformed into the necessary ammo.

Utilize Environmental Traps

The battle arena in Iceshard Cliffs is rife with environmental traps that can turn the tide in your favor. You'll find Ice Spikes, Floating Rubble, and Brittle Ice Pillars. Dropping any of these on Hirabami can stun and deal significant damage to the monster, giving you a critical advantage.

Aim for the Head

The head is Hirabami's weakest spot, but reaching it can be challenging due to their aerial habits. Ranged weapon users can consistently target this area, while melee users should aim for the neck whenever the creature descends. Avoid attacking the torso, as it's heavily armored.

Watch the Tail

Hirabami's unpredictable movements include biting, spitting, and dive-bombing from the sky. Keep an eye on its head to anticipate these attacks and dodge accordingly. However, don't overlook the tail; it's used like a hammer and can deliver devastating blows if you're not careful. Stay mobile and vigilant.

Capturing Hirabami requires lowering its health to 20% or less, indicated by a skull icon on the mini-map. Once at this critical point, set up a Pitfall Trap or a Shock Trap. After the monster is trapped, swiftly use a Tranquilizer to put it to sleep. You must act quickly, as the window for tranquilizing is brief. Capturing Hirabami ends the fight and grants standard rewards, though it may reduce your chances of obtaining extra materials from breaking weak spots.

That's everything you need to know about defeating and capturing Hirabami in Monster Hunter Wilds. Remember to equip Large Dung Pods and consider using the SOS feature to ease the battle.

Monster Hunter Wilds is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
