Metaphor: ReFantazio Manga Adaptation Debuts!

The first chapter of the official Metaphor: ReFantazio manga is now available for free on MANGA Plus! This exciting adaptation, a collaboration between Atlus and Shueisha, is illustrated by Yōichi Amano (known for Akaboshi: Ibun Suikoden and Stealth Symphony).

Experience Will's Journey in Manga Form

The manga takes creative liberties with the game's storyline, significantly altering the initial events. Key differences in Chapter 1 include the omission of a starting area from the game, the introduction of new scenes, and a restructuring of existing encounters, notably how the protagonist meets his allies. Importantly, the manga canonically confirms the protagonist's name as Will, aligning with the game's default option.

The next chapter is scheduled for release on February 19th, simultaneously with the Japanese version.

A Critical and Commercial Triumph

Developed by Studio Zero (led by Persona series director Katsura Hashino), Metaphor: ReFantazio follows protagonist Will and his fairy companion, Gallica, as they strive to save the prince of Euchronia. The assassination of the king throws the kingdom into turmoil, leading to a unique succession process where the people will choose their next leader. Will finds himself unexpectedly thrust into this pivotal moment.

The game achieved phenomenal success, selling over one million copies globally on its launch day—a record for Atlus, surpassing even Persona 3: Reload. Critical acclaim followed, with numerous awards including Best RPG, Best Art Direction, and Best Narrative at the 2024 Game Awards.
