Dr. Disrespect's Midnight Society Shuts Down, Cancels Deadrop
Gaming studio Midnight Society, co-founded by streamer Guy "Dr. Disrespect" Beahm, has announced its closure and the cancellation of its anticipated FPS game, Deadrop.
The studio revealed the news via an X post, stating, "Today we're announcing Midnight Society's closure after three years, with a dedicated team of over 55 developers." The announcement included a plea for job opportunities for its talented team members.
Midnight Society, established by Beahm alongside Call of Duty and Halo veterans Robert Bowling and Quinn Delhyo, aimed to create a free-to-play FPS, Deadrop, leveraging the team's extensive experience. While targeting a 2024 release, Deadrop ultimately failed to meet its launch goals.

Following Dr. Disrespect's departure from the studio in 2024 due to controversy surrounding inappropriate messages exchanged with a minor via Twitch Whispers, Midnight Society persevered with Deadrop development until its recent shutdown.
Deadrop was envisioned within a unique "80s never ended" fictional setting, featuring characters sporting Daft Punk-inspired helmets and wielding a mix of firearms and melee weapons. The gameplay was designed as a PvPvE extraction shooter.
Midnight Society's closure adds to the growing list of game studios facing challenges and restructuring within the current difficult climate for the games industry, impacting major players such as Ubisoft, BioWare, and Phoenix Labs, among others.
