Minecraft Live 2025 has concluded, with Mojang unveiling a host of new features and updates for the world’s best-selling video game.

Mojang introduced the first game drop of 2025, named Spring to Life, set to launch on March 25. This update enhances the Overworld with immersive biome changes, including new variants for cows, pigs, and chickens, plus ambient effects like glittering firefly bushes, falling leaves, and whispering sands.

The second game drop, yet to be named, features a new block called the Dried Ghast. When rehydrated, it transforms into a Ghastling, a baby ghast, which can grow into a Happy Ghast. Players can use a Ghast harness to fly this new mob, carrying up to four players at once.

A major highlight was the Vibrant Visuals update, which Mojang described as “the first step in realizing our developers’ vision for a transformative visual overhaul.” This upgrade enhances Minecraft’s aesthetics without altering gameplay.

Mojang also shared a new trailer for the upcoming A Minecraft Movie and announced a movie-themed in-game event starting March 25.

Mojang Studios revealed the name, release date, and features of the first 2025 game drop, alongside details of the second drop. Spring to Life, launching March 25, brings immersive Overworld updates, including warm and cold variants of classic mobs, plus new ambient features like glittering firefly bushes, falling leaves, and whispering sands, encouraging deeper exploration.

The second game drop introduces the Dried Ghast block, which is smaller than a standard block, sporting tiny tentacles and a grumpy expression. When placed in water, it becomes a cheerful Ghastling. This floating mob can be fed snowballs to grow into a Happy Ghast. With a crafted harness, players can ride the Happy Ghast, which supports up to four players for aerial adventures.

A new Locator Bar at the screen’s bottom helps track friends’ directions, ideal for group flights on the Happy Ghast. Mojang noted that the Happy Ghast benefits Survival Mode builders, offering a Creative Mode-like experience within Survival.

Mojang announced the Vibrant Visuals update, enhancing Minecraft’s graphical experience. Additionally, an exclusive clip from A Minecraft Movie was shown, alongside a movie-themed in-game event.

The event, set in Midport Village, runs from March 25 to April 7. Players join Steve and movie characters in a multiplayer adventure, defending the village from piglin attacks through three mini-games. Completing all challenges earns the Yearn cape.
