While the initial edit is free, subsequent changes require purchasing Character Edit Vouchers. These vouchers are sold in packs of three for $6, or a combined pack for both characters for $10. Without vouchers, players are limited to hairstyles, eyebrow color, makeup, and clothing, excluding core facial feature alterations.

Despite controversies surrounding microtransactions and reported performance issues, Monster Hunter Wilds achieved remarkable success, boasting over 1.3 million concurrent players on Steam at launch.

Capcom hasn't yet responded to player feedback concerning this paid customization model. The community expresses significant dissatisfaction, drawing unfavorable comparisons to previous games where appearance changes were free or earned through in-game currency. Many feel this change undermines a core franchise element.
