Monster Hunter Wilds director Yuya Tokuda has detailed the upcoming Version 1.011 update scheduled for May 28, which brings a wealth of new features and gameplay refinements, including a crossover event with Street Fighter 6.

In his latest Director’s Letter, Tokuda shared that the development team aims to "deliver more engaging content while implementing numerous adjustments to enhance the overall Monster Hunter Wilds experience." A standout addition is the iconic Street Fighter character Akuma, who arrives as a formidable new challenger. Players can obtain the full Arkuma armor set and corresponding layered armor. When either set is equipped, three special items will be added to the item bar: Assisted Combo Akuma, Drive Impact, and Gou Hadoken. Version 1.011 also introduces a roster of demanding eight-star monsters. Gore Magala, Rey Dau, Uth Duna, Nu Udra, and Jin Dahaad become huntable at Hunter Rank 41 and above. This expands hunting opportunities beyond Arkveld for players pursuing eight-star tempered monsters, though these creatures will still appear at seven-star difficulty. The eight-star variants are notably more durable, boasting higher health pools, improved wound resistance, and adjustments to multiplayer scaling. Tokuda cautions that Tempered Gore Magala presents an especially formidable challenge, even for seasoned hunters. Additionally, quests with heightened difficulty and multi-monster encounters will appear more frequently as players advance in Hunter Rank.

A series of player-focused balance adjustments are also being implemented in both Version 1.011 and the forthcoming Title Update 2. The Hammer, Hunting Horn, Gunlance, Light Bowgun, and Heavy Bowgun have all received various tweaks, with "certain attributes" of Gunlance Artian weapons being enhanced.

Tokuda noted, "While some weapon parameters have been toned down, others have been boosted. Overall, these changes are designed to broaden the strategic possibilities for every weapon type. I encourage everyone to test them out after the update goes live." He added that the Hammer and Dual Blades are receiving further "varied improvements."

Several quality-of-life updates are also on the way. Hunters can now rest at the Grand Hub and Suja, Peaks of Accord. Resting fully repairs any destroyed Pop-up Camps. A confirmation prompt will no longer appear when obtaining items with a full item pouch; instead, such items are sent directly to the item box. The visibility of meal effect timers has been improved, with a countdown displaying when there are 10 minutes remaining. Notifications have been streamlined across the board—their frequency in hunting locales has been reduced, ensuring that only high-priority targets appear in the environment overview. These notifications will also no longer interfere with opening the map.

Tokuda added, "As mentioned previously, you will be able to view each individual endemic life specimen you’ve captured. In the Windward Plains, select 'Check Endemic Life' in the Ecological Research menu to see your creatures, their names, and details like the size and weight of fish you’ve caught. You can also mark creatures as favorites to preserve them even if you exceed storage limits! Since individual creatures may feature unique patterns or traits, this feature lets you hold onto any particularly appealing finds."

The update includes stability improvements, especially on Steam. With the addition of eight-star monsters, rewards for eight-star investigations and field surveys have been increased. Guild Point rewards for fishing have also been rebalanced, though specific details on these changes are still to be announced.
