MultiVersus presented two last characters while fans threaten game developers
The saga of MultiVersus deserves a prominent chapter in gaming history, a cautionary tale alongside the likes of the Concorde. Yet, the game's final act is set to unfold, with the developers unveiling Lola Bunny and Aquaman as the last two characters to join the roster.
This announcement arrives amidst a wave of fan frustration, some expressing their disappointment with concerning intensity, even resorting to threats against the development team. MultiVersus game director Tony Huynh addressed this troubling situation in a detailed message, pleading with players to refrain from directing threats towards the team.
Huynh offered an apology to fans who won't see their desired characters added to MultiVersus, expressing hope they'll still enjoy the content offered in the game's final Season 5. He clarified that character selection in such games is a complex process, influenced by numerous factors beyond his direct control, dispelling the notion of unlimited influence he may have been perceived to possess.
Following the shutdown announcement, some players voiced concerns about their inability to spend in-game tokens on new characters—a promised benefit for purchasers of the $100 edition. This unfulfilled promise may have contributed to the escalation of negative reactions and threats.
