Nintendo's Latest Announcement: A LEGO Game Boy!

Get ready for a nostalgic blast from the past! Nintendo has just revealed its latest collaboration with LEGO: a buildable LEGO Game Boy! Launching October 2025, this follows the successful LEGO NES set, marking the second Nintendo console to receive the LEGO treatment.

While exciting news for fans of both brands, the announcement on X (formerly Twitter) has sparked a flurry of speculation regarding the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2. Many jokingly interpreted the LEGO Game Boy reveal as a substitute for the Switch 2 announcement, with comments like, "Thanks for finally revealing the new console," and "At this rate, a LEGO Switch 2 will be out before the actual console!"

Despite the playful online reactions, Nintendo President Furukawa previously stated (May 7, 2024) that an announcement about the Nintendo Switch successor would be made within the current fiscal year (ending March). So, while the wait for the Switch 2 continues, fans can look forward to this new LEGO creation.

Pricing details for the LEGO Game Boy remain undisclosed, but further information is promised in the coming weeks and months.

A History of Nintendo and LEGO Collaborations

Beyond the upcoming Game Boy and the previous NES set, Nintendo and LEGO have previously teamed up to bring iconic characters from beloved franchises to life in brick form. This includes popular figures from Super Mario, Animal Crossing, and The Legend of Zelda.

One notable example is the May 2024 release of the 2,500-piece LEGO "Great Deku Tree 2-in-1" set from The Legend of Zelda series. Featuring the iconic tree from both Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild, along with Princess Zelda and the Master Sword, this set retails for $299.99 USD.
