Seamless System Transfer Options

The standout addition is the new system transfer functionality to Switch 2, accessible through System Settings. This allows players to migrate their data between consoles using local wireless communication.

For those planning to trade in their current Switch before obtaining the new model, Nintendo offers an alternative cloud-based transfer solution. Users can upload their system data to dedicated servers for later retrieval on Switch 2.

Important note: Both transfer methods will factory reset your original Switch. Nintendo advises completing the local transfer only after acquiring Switch 2 to avoid potential data loss.

Visual Refresh and New Features

The update brings redesigned user icons, including a fresh Donkey Kong look matching his upcoming Switch 2 exclusive appearances in Donkey Kong Bananza and Mario Kart World.

Home menu additions include:

• Virtual Game Cards - Digital purchases now display as virtual cartridges
• GameShare - Allows Switch 2 owners to share compatible games locally
