1. The Switch 2 retains a similar form factor to its predecessor, but with a noticeable size increase—approximately 15% larger. Both the console and Joy-Cons are taller.
2. The vibrant Joy-Con colors are gone, replaced by a sleek, dark grey finish reminiscent of the Steam Deck.
3. Color isn't entirely absent; colored rings around the analog sticks and inner edges echo the original Switch's red and blue controllers, acting as a color-coded docking system.
4. Joy-Con attachment is revamped. Instead of sliding rails, they now directly slot in, connecting via a protruding connector on the console unit. Rumors suggest magnetic attachment, similar to MagSafe.
5. Redesigned triggers on the rear of each Joy-Con release the controllers from the console unit via a piston-like mechanism.
6. The classic button layout is preserved: offset analog sticks, directional buttons, A, B, X, Y face buttons, Plus and Minus buttons, and the capture and Home buttons.
7. A new, unlabeled button is present below the Home button; its function remains a mystery.
8. L/R shoulder buttons and ZL/ZR triggers are included. The triggers appear deeper and more rounded for enhanced comfort and usability.
9. The analog sticks retain a low-profile design, but feature a smaller inner ring and taller rims for improved grip.
10. The NFC Amiibo interface's presence is uncertain, but the IR sensor from the original right Joy-Con is seemingly absent.
11. SL and SR buttons remain on the inner edges, enabling individual Joy-Con use. They're significantly larger than before.
12. The player indicator LEDs are relocated to the forward-facing edge of the connector strip.
13. The Sync button for pairing Joy-Cons is present below the connector port.
14. A small, clear lens above the connector suggests a possible laser sensor, potentially enabling Joy-Con mouse functionality.
15. Redesigned wrist straps return, matching the internal Joy-Con color scheme.
16. The main console boasts a larger screen, though not quite edge-to-edge like the Switch OLED. The display technology remains unconfirmed.
17. The top edge retains the power/volume buttons, headphone jack, and a redesigned ventilation grill.
18. The Game Card slot remains on the top edge, suggesting backward compatibility with original Switch cartridges.
19. A new USB-C port on the top edge presents an intriguing mystery regarding its function.
20. Downward-firing speakers replace the rear-facing speakers of the original Switch.
21. A new full-length kickstand with multiple locking angles is included.
22. Docking functionality remains, with a nearly identical dock featuring rounded corners and a prominent Switch 2 logo.
23. A Joy-Con attachment peripheral is also included, though its design appears similar to the original.
24. A sneak peek at a new Mario Kart game is revealed, featuring a 24-racer starting line.
25. A new track, "Mario Bros. Circuit," is shown, suggesting a more open and off-road experience.
26. Ten playable characters are confirmed: Mario, Luigi, Bowser, Peach, Yoshi, Toad, Donkey Kong, Daisy, Rosalina, and Wario.
27. Backward compatibility is confirmed, though some games may not be supported, likely due to peripheral incompatibility.
28. A 2025 release window is announced.
29. A Nintendo Direct on April 2nd will reveal more details.
30. A "Nintendo Switch 2 Experience" hands-on tour will take place between April and June, with ticket registration opening January 17th.
These 30 details offer a comprehensive glimpse into the Nintendo Switch 2. Stay tuned for further updates!
