Hideki Kamiya, renowned game director behind classics like Okami and Devil May Cry, embarks on a new chapter. After a two-decade tenure at PlatinumGames, he's launched Clovers Inc., a new studio dedicated to fulfilling his long-held dream: an Okami sequel.

A Sequel 18 Years in the Making

Kamiya's passion for Okami is well-documented. He felt the original's story was unfinished, a sentiment shared with fellow Okami collaborator, Ikumi Nakamura. While previous attempts to secure a sequel with Capcom proved unsuccessful, this new venture with Capcom as publisher marks a significant victory.

Clovers Inc.: A New Beginning

Clovers Inc., a joint venture with former PlatinumGames colleague Kento Koyama, pays homage to Clover Studio, the developer behind Okami and Viewtiful Joe. Kamiya, focusing on game development, and Koyama, managing the business aspects, form a complementary team. The studio currently employs 25 people, with plans for gradual expansion. Kamiya emphasizes a shared creative vision over sheer size.

Departure from PlatinumGames

Kamiya's departure from PlatinumGames, a company he co-founded, surprised many. He cites differing philosophies on game development as the primary reason. While he remains tight-lipped about specifics, the move underscores his commitment to his creative vision.
