Meridiem Games, Omori's European publisher, has announced the cancellation of the game's physical release for Nintendo Switch and PS4 in Europe. The reason cited is technical difficulties related to multilingual European localization.

Cancellation of Omori's Physical Release

The announcement, made via Twitter (X), provided limited details regarding the specific localization issues. While the publisher declined to elaborate beyond the initial statement, the cancellation follows a series of significant delays.

Initially slated for a March 2023 release, the European physical version was postponed to December 2023, then March 2024, and finally to January 2025. Pre-orders were impacted, with Amazon notifying customers of the repeated delays before the ultimate cancellation.

This news is undoubtedly frustrating for fans, especially given the anticipation for an officially localized version in Spanish and other European languages. While a digital version remains available, European players seeking a physical copy will now need to import a US version.

Omori, an RPG centered around Sunny, a young boy grappling with the aftermath of a traumatic event, seamlessly blends reality and a surreal dreamscape where he becomes Omori. Initially launched on PC in December 2020, the game later expanded to Switch, PS4, and Xbox in 2022. However, the Xbox version was subsequently removed due to an unrelated issue involving an inappropriate T-shirt design previously sold by OMOCAT.
