Obsidian Entertainment CEO Feargus Urquhart recently provided a positive update on the development of The Outer Worlds 2, assuring fans that progress is proceeding smoothly, despite the studio's demanding workload. This update comes alongside news about their fantasy RPG, Avowed.
Obsidian's Confidence in Upcoming Releases
According to Urquhart, *The Outer Worlds 2* development is progressing well. He praised the dedicated team, many of whom worked on the original title and possess extensive experience. "I'm impressed with the team," he stated. "We have a lot of people on that game that get it—who have worked on the first one and have been with us for a long time. So I’ve actually been really impressed by it."Urquhart candidly addressed the challenges Obsidian faced, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic and the period following their acquisition by Microsoft. Juggling multiple projects—including Grounded and Pentiment—placed considerable strain on the team. "We were kind of a crappy developer for about a year, year and a half," he admitted. At one point, the possibility of halting The Outer Worlds 2 to focus on Avowed was considered, but the studio ultimately decided to maintain its original development plan.
