Overture DLC Not Linked to Lies of P's Final Cutscene Reveal, Says Director
Ever since the announcement of the upcoming DLC for Lies of P, titled Overture, fans have been buzzing with excitement and speculation about what mysteries it might unveil. At the recent Game Developers Conference, IGN gained some clarity on what fans can not expect from the DLC: an explanation for the base game's intriguing final cutscene.
For those yet to experience the end of Lies of P, here's a spoiler-free hint: the final cutscene teases a potential direction for the Lies of P universe with a twist that has left the community buzzing. This scene has sparked numerous theories about how it might tie into future content. However, Lies of P director Jiwon Choi confirmed that the cutscene will not be addressed in Overture. He cryptically added, "Please stay tuned for additional announcements in the future."

Neowiz has already announced a sequel to Lies of P, suggesting that the mysterious cutscene might be more relevant to Lies of P 2. Details about the sequel remain scarce, and Choi remained tight-lipped about any potential hints during our conversation.
“What I can certainly tell you is when we share such news or media and assets with you, you'll know for sure that we are ready to present it to you. And that follows very our strict focus on quality [amid] all the pressure that we talked about in the past. So that is the one promise that I can share with you, that when we actually share those contents with you and the news, we will be ready to share that with you.”

The scene in question, which we discussed with Choi, is the "Dorothy scene." As detailed [here](link to detailed article), the final cutscene features Paracelcus on a phone call, mentioning, "I will find her, for sure. Another key of ours: Dorothy." The scene then shows the iconic striped sock legs and ruby slippers of Dorothy from *The Wizard of Oz*, hinting at a connection to other public domain "fairy tales" in future *Lies of P* content. However, we now know this won't be explored in *Overture*.SPOILERS END HERE.
While the final cutscene remains a mystery for now, Choi did share some insights on what to expect from *Overture*. He encourages fans to replay the base game, as it contains numerous hints scattered throughout that foreshadow the DLC's content.“When you play through the base game again, you'll see many hints that we scattered throughout the whole experience,” Choi said. “A lot of hints and a lot of windows into the world, and you'll be able to actually see that and experience that in the expansion…There are many things that I actually wanted to accomplish when we were working on the base game. It didn't get put into the base game, and all of that, at least key elements of that, are going to be included in the expansion.”

Choi also mentioned that some fans have already pieced together parts of the puzzle, noting that he often reads fan theories online and finds some of them "quite close" to the truth.
Additionally, Choi revealed that Overture is expected to take between 15-20 hours for experienced players to complete. It will be accessible after reaching a "certain" chapter in the game and can be played until the end. As previously announced, Overture serves as a prequel, with the protagonist transported back in time to Krat just before its fall. The DLC will introduce new locations, enemies and bosses, characters, and weapons, though Choi kept the specifics under wraps to maintain the surprise for the release.
