Pocketpair, the developer behind the hit game Palworld, is gearing up for a significant update set to launch in late March 2025. This eagerly awaited crossplay update will enable multiplayer functionality across all platforms, bringing gamers together like never before. Additionally, the update will introduce a new feature allowing world transfer for Pals, enhancing the gameplay experience. While details remain sparse, a promotional image released by Pocketpair showcases a thrilling battle between Palworld characters and a formidable Pal, hinting at the excitement to come.

John 'Bucky' Buckley, Pocketpair's Communications Director and Publishing Manager, hinted at "a few little surprises" that will accompany the March update, adding an extra layer of anticipation for fans. This news comes as a delight to the 32 million players who have embraced Palworld since its early access release in January 2024. Looking ahead, Pocketpair has outlined a comprehensive content roadmap for 2025, which includes not only crossplay but also an "ending scenario" and additional new content for the beloved creature-catching survival game.

Since its launch on Steam for $30 and its immediate inclusion in Game Pass on Xbox and PC, Palworld has shattered sales records and achieved unprecedented concurrent player numbers. The overwhelming success of Palworld led Pocketpair's CEO, Takuro Mizobe, to admit that the studio was initially overwhelmed by the game's massive profits. However, Pocketpair quickly adapted, securing a deal with Sony to establish Palworld Entertainment, a new venture aimed at expanding the Palworld IP and bringing the game to the PS5.

Despite its success, Palworld faces a legal challenge from Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, who are seeking an injunction and damages, claiming that Palworld infringes on multiple patent rights. In response, Pocketpair has adjusted how players summon Pals within the game and is prepared to defend its position in court, stating, "We will continue to assert our position in this case through future legal proceedings."
