Path of Exile 2: Best Atlas Skill Tree Setup

The Atlas Skill Tree in Path of Exile 2 is a crucial endgame mechanic that becomes available after completing all six Acts of the campaign. As players progress through the main quest, Cataclysm's Wake, issued by Doryani, they earn Atlas skill point books, each granting 2 points. These points are vital for optimizing your endgame strategy, and careful allocation, especially in the early stages, is essential for a seamless journey. Here are the recommended setups for the Atlas skill tree in PoE 2.

During the Tier 1-10 mapping phase in PoE 2, sustaining Waystones to progress to the true endgame is a primary concern. While juicing maps for increased monster drops can be appealing, it's a short-term strategy. The ultimate goal should be reaching Tier 15 maps, essential for those aiming to farm in the endgame rather than merely dabbling.

The initial points on the Atlas skill tree play a critical role in achieving this. Three nodes, in particular, are vital:

Best Early Endgame Atlas Skills
Constant Crossroads20% increased Quantity of Waystones found in your maps.
Fortunate Path100% increased rarity of Waystones found in your maps.
The High RoadWaystones have a 20% chance of being a tier higher.

By the time you complete the Tier 4 map quest given by Doryani, you should have accumulated enough Atlas points to unlock these three crucial nodes. Constant Crossroads directly boosts your Waystone drop chance, making it an obvious choice. Fortunate Path helps you save on resources like Regal OrbRegal Orbs, Exalted OrbExalted Orbs, and Orb of AlchemyOrbs of Alchemy that you would otherwise spend on enhancing your Waystones. The High Road is perhaps the most crucial, offering a 1 in 5 chance of obtaining maps at a higher tier, thus easing the transition between tiers.

Ensure your build is finalized before tackling Tier 5+ maps. No Atlas skill tree setup can compensate for a character that dies frequently.

At Tier 15 maps, the issue of Waystone sustainability diminishes as there's no need to jump tiers. This stage allows players to amass a surplus of T15 maps, effectively solving the Waystone problem. The focus now shifts to maximizing the number of rare monsters on the map, as they yield the most profitable drops. Here are the nodes you should prioritize:

Best Endgame Atlas Skills
Deadly EvolutionGives 1 to 2 additional modifiers to Magic and Rare Monsters, significantly boosting the number and quality of drops.
Twin ThreatsRare monsters are the primary source of drops in maps, aside from bosses. Increasing their number is highly beneficial. Twin Threats adds a flat +1 Rare monster to every map, and you can also pick up Rising Danger to get a 15% increase in Rare monsters on your maps.
Precursor InfluencePrecursor Tablets are key to making the true endgame grind profitable. Targeting the Towers and using Tablets to enhance maps is a cost-effective way to increase profitability. Precursor Influence increases the drop chance of Tablets by +30%.
Local Knowledge (Optional)Local Knowledge can yield significant rewards by altering the drop weighting based on the map biome. However, it can negatively impact two out of the five biomes (Mountain and Desert). Be mindful of the biome you're entering with Local Knowledge active, and consider respeccing if the outcomes are undesirable. If not using Local Knowledge, allocate points to the Higher Tier Waystone node (below Crystalline Growths) and Tablet Effect (next to Precursor Influence).

If you notice a concerning drop in Waystone availability, consider respeccing back into the Waystone nodes on the Atlas tree.
