Pokémon GO: Morpeko Arrives, Dynamax/Gigantamax Teased!

Get ready for significant updates to Pokémon GO! Developer Niantic has hinted at the arrival of Dynamax and Gigantamax mechanics, initially featured in Pokémon Sword and Shield. This follows the confirmed addition of Morpeko, a Pokémon known for its form-changing abilities.

The upcoming season promises "big changes, big battles, and…big Pokémon," strongly suggesting the implementation of these size-altering mechanics. Niantic's announcement states: "Coming soon: Morpeko will charge into Pokémon GO, changing the way you battle! Certain Pokémon—like Morpeko—will be able to change form in battle by using a Charged Attack, unleashing new possibilities for you and your battle team."

While specifics remain under wraps, the arrival of Morpeko fuels speculation about the inclusion of other Galar region Pokémon like Mimikyu and Aegislash. The current Shared Skies season ends September 3rd, and many believe the next season will center around Galar Pokémon, making the Dynamax/Gigantamax theory even more compelling. However, Niantic hasn't confirmed these mechanics' implementation or how they'd function within Pokémon GO.
