What's the Pokémon GO Safari Ball?

Long-time Pokémon fans will recognize Safari Zones from the main series games – special areas for catching rare Pokémon without battles. Niantic is recreating this experience with the Wild Area event.

Pokémon GO hasn't seen many new Poké Balls over the years. We're used to the standard Poké Ball, Great Ball, Ultra Ball, Premier Balls, and the coveted Master Ball. The Safari Ball changes that.

The global Wild Area event runs from November 23rd to November 24th, 2024, ending at 6:15 pm local time. Important note: Unused Safari Balls vanish from your inventory after the event concludes.

During the event, the Safari Ball becomes your best bet for catching powerful Pokémon. It's intriguing that Niantic chose a new event, rather than Safari Zone or City Safari events, to introduce this ball.
