Boutique PC Retailers with Built-to-Order RTX 50XX Systems

Some boutique retailers are offering the option to customize systems with RTX 5090 and/or 5080 GPUs through their configurators. New RTX 50-series GPU configurations are available at iBuyPower, Origin PC, Maingear, Starforge Systems, NZXT, and Digital Storm. While these built-to-order systems provide flexibility, be aware that they can be significantly more expensive and less cost-effective.

Dell (Alienware), HP, and Lenovo Prebuilt PCs Coming Later

The major OEMs, Dell (Alienware), HP, and Lenovo, will not introduce their prebuilt gaming desktop PCs with RTX 50-series GPUs until later in the year. Dell showcased its Alienware Area-51 at CES 2025, which is expected to feature Nvidia's new GPUs and launch sometime in Q1. HP plans to offer the RTX 5090 and 5080 options for its flagship Omen 45L, likely in mid to late February. Lenovo has not yet disclosed when it will start incorporating the new GPUs into its Legion Tower gaming desktops, leaving an unclear launch date.

DLSS 4 technology is claimed to quadruple frame rates with minimal visual compromise. While these new GPUs do offer a performance boost, opinions are divided on their value for PC gamers compared to the previous RTX 40-series cards.

In our Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 FE review, Jackie Thomas stated, "The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 has officially taken the performance crown from the RTX 4090, but with less force than previous generations. For non-AI gaming, the RTX 5090 offers one of the smallest generational uplifts in recent memory. However, in games that support it, DLSS 4 really does deliver huge performance gains – you just have to accept that 75% of the frames are generated with AI."

In our Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 FE review, Jackie echoed a similar sentiment, saying, "If you already have a high-end graphics card from the last couple of years, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 might not be the best choice – it doesn't significantly outpace the RTX 4080, though the extra frames from DLSS 4 Multi-Frame Generation enhance the experience in supported games. However, for gamers with older GPUs looking for a substantial performance boost, the RTX 5080 is a strong contender, especially if you're open to Nvidia’s AI enhancements."
