Directed by Jalmari Helander, known for his action-packed films "Sisu" and "Big Game," this upcoming film is being launched by Millennium Media at the Cannes market. This prestigious event, which coincides with the Cannes Film Festival, serves as a platform for filmmakers to showcase their projects to potential investors and distributors.

Millennium Media, the production company behind the "Expendables" and "Has Fallen" series, has previously been involved in the Rambo franchise with "Rambo" in 2008 and "Rambo: Last Blood" in 2019. The new film, "John Rambo," will delve into the character's backstory, set during the Vietnam War, serving as a prequel to the 1982 classic "First Blood." While details about the plot remain under wraps, it's clear that this film aims to explore the origins of the legendary character.

As of now, no casting decisions have been finalized. However, it's noted that Sylvester Stallone, the original Rambo, is aware of the project but not currently involved. The screenplay for "John Rambo" has been penned by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani, who have previously worked on "The Mauritanian" and "Black Adam." The film is slated to start shooting in Thailand in October.
