Ratatan blends rhythm gaming with side-scrolling action, featuring up to 4-player online co-op and massive melee battles with up to 100 characters. This exciting project is led by Patapon creator Hiroyuki Kotani and features original Patapon musician Kemmei Adachi. Launched on Kickstarter in 2023, Ratatan has successfully reached its console launch stretch goal, ensuring its availability on various gaming platforms.

Closed Beta Begins on February 27, 2025

According to a recent post on their Kickstarter page, Ratatan's closed beta is scheduled to start on February 27, 2025. Producer Kazuto Sakajiri shared updates on the game’s milestones, noting that Ratatan has surpassed 100,000 wishlists on Steam and received positive feedback on the Ratatan Original Soundtrack Demo.

While the game won't be featured at the upcoming Steam Next Fest, the team's priority is to enhance the demo for the Steam Next Festival in June. Sakajiri outlined what players can expect during the closed beta: the initial build will include gameplay up to Stage 1, with Stages 2 and 3 being added progressively over the month-long test period. Details about code distribution, start date, and time will be shared on Discord and X once finalized.

Ratatan is slated for a 2025 release on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC, although a specific release date has yet to be announced.
