According to GameReactor, insiders "close to Rockstar" have hinted at these developments, indicating that both the Switch 2 port and the next-gen upgrade patch could roll out as early as later this year. These enhancements are expected to elevate the gaming experience on current-gen systems as well.

Echoing these claims, Nintenduo reports that the Switch 2 version of Red Dead Redemption 2 may launch within Take-Two's current fiscal year, ending March 31, 2026. However, it remains uncertain whether this port will be available digitally, physically, or both.

When Red Dead Redemption 2 first debuted in 2018, IGN's review hailed it as a "masterpiece," awarding it a perfect 10/10 score. The review praised it as "a meticulously polished open-world ode to the outlaw era." Given this acclaim, the prospect of Red Dead Redemption 2 coming to the Switch 2 might not be too surprising.

This buzz aligns with comments from Take-Two's CEO Strauss Zelnick during a recent Q&A with investors. Zelnick expressed "great optimism" for the Nintendo Switch 2, noting an improved relationship with Nintendo for third-party publishers. He revealed plans to launch four titles on the Switch 2, including Civilization 7 on launch day (June 5), the NBA 2K and WWE 2K series (specific titles and dates TBD), and Borderlands 4 on September 12. While these titles were already part of the Nintendo Switch lineup, Zelnick's remarks suggest potential future releases from Take-Two's extensive back catalog, possibly including GTA V or Red Dead Redemption 2.
