To achieve the best ending in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, completing specific tasks is crucial, including rescuing Sam. This guide details how to locate and save Sam during the "Reckoning" quest.

Rescuing Sam During "Reckoning"

Near the main quest's conclusion, you discover Sam's captivity at Praguer's Camp, captured by Brabant. Saving him involves infiltration or a direct assault.

Stealth is facilitated by a guard's uniform. You can obtain one by killing a guard (and hiding the body) or looting chests within the camp. Once equipped, explore the camp undetected.

Sam is located in a barn to the left of the camp, beyond the cooking fire. Access the barn via a ladder, encountering Brabant inside. You can choose to kill or spare Brabant; sparing him contributes to the best ending.

The Rescue Timeline

After freeing Sam, don't immediately leave. He mentions von Aulitz, also in the camp. Prioritize dealing with von Aulitz, then securing a horse, before returning for Sam. This order simplifies the process, as Sam needs to be carried to the horse.

Von Aulitz resides in the main camp area. Your guard disguise allows entry. He's near death, offering choices: a dignified death (the most honorable, and contributing to the best ending), a brutal killing, or leaving him to die (also contributes to the best ending).

Finally, retrieve Sam from the barn (a guard might question you; claim you're moving a body). Exit the camp, circle around to the stables, choose a horse, and escape with Sam, progressing towards the game's conclusion.
