This reassurance comes after a period of silence and amidst swirling rumors sparked by a seemingly innocuous cake-themed profile picture change by co-creator William Pellen on X (formerly Twitter).

In response to a fan's plea for any news on Silksong, Griffin took to X to affirm that the game is indeed progressing and will eventually be released. This statement comes after YouTuber fireb0rn reached out to Griffin to clarify the meaning behind Pellen's cake picture. Griffin clarified that it was simply a harmless change and not indicative of any upcoming announcements or an ARG related to Silksong. Fireb0rn humorously noted that the cake was "a lie," echoing the famous meme from Portal.

This marks the first update from Team Cherry in over a year and a half, bringing much-needed relief to fans who have been eagerly awaiting news on the sequel.

Silksong’s Six-Year-Long History

First announced in February 2019, Silksong was initially set to launch in the first half of 2023. However, in May 2023, Team Cherry announced a delay, citing the game's expanded scope and their desire to further refine it. The game promises a new kingdom to explore, nearly 150 new enemies, and a challenging new difficulty mode called Silk Soul.

The response to Griffin's update has been mixed. While some fans expressed gratitude and encouragement, others voiced frustration over the lack of a concrete release date after nearly six years of waiting.
