Sony is relaxing its PlayStation Network (PSN) account linking requirement for several PC games, starting with Marvel's Spider-Man 2. This follows player feedback regarding the previous mandatory linking. Games like Marvel's Spider-Man 2, The Last of Us Part II Remastered, God of War Ragnarök, and Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered will no longer require PSN account connection to play. The impact on other single-player titles remains unclear.

However, Sony is incentivizing PSN account linking with in-game bonuses. These include early suit unlocks in Marvel's Spider-Man 2, resource bundles in God of War Ragnarök (including early access to the Armor of the Black Bear), and other benefits in other titles. PlayStation PC In-Game Content Incentives:

• Marvel’s Spider-Man 2: Early unlock of the Spider-Man 2099 Black Suit and the Miles Morales 2099 Suit.
• God of War Ragnarök: Access to the Armor of the Black Bear set (previously only available in New Game+) and a resource bundle (500 Hacksilver and 250 XP).
• The Last of Us Part II Remastered: +50 points to activate bonus features and Ellie's Jordan's Jacket skin.
• Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered: Access to the Nora Valiant outfit.

Sony plans to continue adding benefits for players linking their PSN accounts, including trophy support and friend management. The company's decision comes after mixed reception to its previous PSN requirement for PC games, which faced backlash, particularly in regions lacking PSN access. This reversal follows a similar situation with Helldivers 2 last year, where a mandatory PSN link was quickly rescinded.
