Splatoon 3 Finale Fuels Anticipation for Sequel Release

With Nintendo ceasing regular updates for Splatoon 3, speculation surrounding a Splatoon 4 release is reaching fever pitch.

Splatoon 4: Sequel Whispers Following Era's End
Nintendo has announced the end of regular content updates for the acclaimed Splatoon 3. However, the game isn't entirely abandoned; holiday events like Splatoween and Frosty Fest will continue, along with ongoing monthly challenges and necessary weapon balance patches.
The official Twitter (X) announcement stated: "After 2 INK-credible years of Splatoon 3, regular updates will conclude. Don't worry! Splatoween, Frosty Fest, Spring Fest, and Summer Nights will continue, with some returning themes! Weapon adjustments will be released as needed. Big Run, Eggstra Work, and Monthly Challenges will continue for now."
This news follows the September 16th conclusion of Splatoon 3's Grand Festival, commemorated by a celebratory video showcasing past Splatfests and the Deep Cut trio. Nintendo's closing message: "Thanks for holding down the Splatlands with us—it's been a blast!"Splatoon 3's two-year run has fueled rumors of a sequel, specifically Splatoon 4, especially now that active development is winding down.
Intriguingly, some players believe they've spotted potential easter eggs or hints within the Grand Festival event, suggesting a new city for the next installment. One fan, responding to images of a metropolitan area, speculated, "Doesn't look like Inkopolis. Perhaps the setting of Splatoon 4?" However, others remain unconvinced, suggesting the location is simply a variation of Splatsville.
While officially unconfirmed, rumors of Splatoon 4 development have circulated for months. Reports earlier this year indicated Nintendo had commenced work on a new Switch title in the series. The Grand Festival, being Splatoon 3's final major Splatfest, further reinforces fan beliefs that Splatoon 4 is imminent.
Historically, Final Fests have influenced subsequent sequels; Splatoon 3's concluding event might even hint at a "Past, Present, or Future" theme for Splatoon 4. However, until Nintendo makes an official announcement, fans will have to remain patient.
