This mission involves Skif meeting Yaryk Mongoose, who needs help activating a second measuring device atop a silo. While brief, it rewards players with a Malachite pass, granting access to the STC Malachite facility.

Initiating the "For Science!" Side Quest

The "For Science!" quest begins by finding Yaryk Mongoose in the Central Elevator area of the Chemical Plant. Upon approaching, players will hear Mongoose radio Skif, requesting a meeting. Inside the Central Elevator, go left past the conveyor belts, ascend the rusty stairs, vault the railing, and speak with Mongoose. He'll explain the need to activate a second device on a nearby silo, initiating the mission.

Reaching the Silo's Summit

After the conversation, climb to the building's roof. Deal with any rodents, then exit through a broken window and use the external ladder and walkways to reach the silos. Equip your bolt-action weapon to counter the electro anomalies. Proceed left along the silo's top to activate the device. This will attract Bloodsuckers.

Dealing with the Aftermath

The activated device will draw Bloodsuckers. Players can choose to eliminate them or evade them to reach Mongoose. Confronting Mongoose gives you a choice: kill him for endangering Skif, or accept the reward. Neither choice has significant long-term consequences. Choosing the non-hostile route rewards the Malachite Pass and some coupons. The pass unlocks the STC Malachite base, unless already accessible through the main storyline.
