"Stellar Blade PC Launch Set for 2025"

After its exclusive launch on PlayStation in April, the highly anticipated sci-fi action game, Stellar Blade, is set to make its way to PC in 2025. This move is sure to excite fans who have been eagerly awaiting the chance to experience this thrilling title on a different platform.
Stellar Blade is Coming to PC in 2025

Rumors about a PC release began circulating in June when SHIFT UP's CFO, Jaewoo Ahn, hinted at the possibility during the company's IPO press conference. Today, SHIFT UP has officially confirmed that Stellar Blade will indeed be coming to PC in 2025. This announcement came in response to an investor's question about "platform expansion" following the company's latest financial earnings report. SHIFT UP cited the growing popularity of PC gaming, especially on Steam, and the global success of similar titles like Black Myth: Wukong, as reasons for their optimism about the game's performance on PC.
Although a specific release date has not been set, SHIFT UP is committed to maintaining the game's popularity until its PC launch. This includes exciting plans like a collaboration DLC with Platinum Game's NieR: Automata and the introduction of a much-requested Photo Mode, both set to launch on November 20, alongside ongoing marketing efforts.

Stellar Blade's move to PC follows a trend where high-profile PlayStation exclusives are expanding to new platforms, joining the ranks of games like God of War Ragnarök and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. However, this shift has introduced a notable concern for some players.
As a title published by Sony Interactive Entertainment and with SHIFT UP becoming a second-party developer for Sony in 2023, there is a possibility that Stellar Blade may require players to link their Steam accounts to a PlayStation Network (PSN) account. This requirement could potentially exclude players from over 170 countries where PSN is not available, limiting the game's accessibility on PC.
Sony's rationale for this PSN account linkage, as explained by their CFO Hiroki Totoki, is to ensure the safety of players in their live-service games. Yet, this justification raises questions, especially when applied to single-player experiences like those in the Horizon series.

It is still unclear whether Stellar Blade will enforce a PSN account requirement for PC players. Since the IP remains with SHIFT UP, there's hope that this might not be necessary. However, if it does, it could impact the game's potential to surpass console sales, a goal SHIFT UP has expressed in their financial reports.
