Suikoden’s latest venture, Suikoden STAR LEAP, aims to bring the rich experience of a console game to mobile devices. In a recent interview with Famitsu on March 4, 2025, the developers of Star Leap shared their vision for the game.

Star Leap Producer Shinya Fujimatsu elaborated on Konami's decision to go mobile, stating, "We wanted to make Suikoden accessible to as many players as possible, which is why we chose mobile as our platform. It's the most convenient way to play. However, we are committed to preserving the essence of Suikoden, challenging ourselves to create a full-fledged entry in the series."

The development team is dedicated to blending high-quality visuals, immersive soundscapes, and compelling narratives typical of console games with the accessibility of mobile platforms.

Expressing Suikoden in STAR LEAP

Fujimatsu emphasized the unique blend of themes in Suikoden, saying, "The heart of Suikoden lies in its portrayal of war alongside the theme of friendship. In Suikoden STAR LEAP, it's crucial to capture the essence of the new 108 stars and their stories."

Both a Sequel and a Prequel to the Series

Suikoden STAR LEAP will serve as both a sequel and a prequel, weaving through different timelines within the series. Set to be a new chapter in the Suikoden saga, it will officially become part of the series' canon. The narrative begins two years before the events of Suikoden 1 and spans across various eras, connecting to Suikoden 1 through 5.
