A flurry of surprise game releases, too! This typically quiet Wednesday is anything but, and that's a welcome change. We've got news, a review of today's eShop additions, and the usual sales updates. Let's dive in!

News

The Partner/Indie World Showcase Delivered Abundant Choices

Combining two smaller showcases was a smart move, resulting in a wealth of announcements. While a complete rundown is impossible here, highlights include several surprise releases (detailed below), Capcom Fighting Collection 2, the Suikoden I & II remasters, Yakuza Kiwami, Tetris Forever, MySims, Worms Armageddon: Anniversary Edition, new Atelier and Rune Factory titles, and much more. I recommend watching the video; even skimming it will reveal many excellent games for diverse tastes.

Notable New Releases

Castlevania Dominus Collection ($24.99)

A fantastic surprise from the Direct: a third Castlevania compilation. This one features the three Nintendo DS entries: Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, and Order of Ecclesia. It also includes the infamous arcade game, Haunted Castle, alongside an M2-developed remake that's significantly improved. As expected from M2, this is a superb package with excellent emulation and desirable features. An incredible value.

Pizza Tower ($19.99)

This Wario Land-inspired, fast-paced platformer makes its Switch debut as a surprise release. Players navigate five massive floors of the Pizza Tower to destroy it and save their restaurant. Fans of Wario's handheld adventures will love this. Even those without strong Wario feelings but enjoy platformers should check it out. We hope to review it soon.

Goat Simulator 3 ($29.99)

Another surprise release – Wednesdays wouldn't be the same without them! Goat Simulator 3 delivers more of the same chaotic goat antics. While performance on the Switch is unconfirmed, it's worth noting that more powerful consoles have experienced some performance issues. Proceed with caution, but even poor performance might add to the game's inherent absurdity. Silly goats, silly antics, open-world mayhem – your Switch might not appreciate it.

Peglin ($19.99)

While it's easy to criticize missed opportunities, EA's decision to not bring PopCap games to Switch seems like a significant oversight. For Peggle fans, Peglin is a fantastic alternative. Available on mobile for some time, it shines on the Switch. It's essentially Peggle combined with a turn-based RPG roguelite. A review is forthcoming.

Doraemon Dorayaki Shop Story ($20.00)

Kairosoft's shop simulator formula gets a fresh coat of paint with the Doraemon license. This standard Kairosoft sim features characters from the popular manga and anime, with noticeable effort put into representing the license faithfully. Expect appearances from characters from the manga artist's other works as customers. Charming!

Pico Park 2 ($8.99)

More Pico Park for fans. Up to eight players can join via local or online multiplayer. The more, the merrier! Puzzle stages demand teamwork and clever problem-solving. A great option for those who enjoyed the first game, though it doesn't offer enough to attract newcomers.

Kamitsubaki City Ensemble ($3.99)

An affordable rhythm game featuring Kamitsubaki Studio music. Simple, but enjoyable for the price.

SokoPenguin ($4.99)

A Sokoban-style puzzle game starring a penguin. One hundred levels. You know if you're interested.

Q2 Humanity ($6.80)

More quirky physics-based puzzles, over three hundred this time. Players utilize character abilities and drawing mechanics to solve problems. Supports up to four players locally or online.
