We're now less than a month away from the highly anticipated launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, and while much of the conversation has centered around pricing, tariffs, and the removal of game cartridge key cards, one major third-party publisher is expressing strong confidence in the new console: Take-Two Interactive.

During a recent Q&A session with investors following the company’s full-year earnings report, CEO Strauss Zelnick shared his enthusiasm for Nintendo’s upcoming platform, describing his outlook as one of "great optimism." Notably, he highlighted what he sees as a significant improvement in Nintendo’s approach to third-party developers—something that hasn’t always been smooth in the past.

"We're launching four titles with Nintendo Switch 2, which represents a broader lineup than we've ever offered at the launch of a new Nintendo platform," Zelnick said. "Historically, being a third party in the Nintendo ecosystem has been somewhat challenging. This time, however, Nintendo has been very proactive in addressing those concerns. We’re stepping up in response because we truly believe in the potential of this platform. While we evaluate each platform on a case-by-case basis and always aim to be where the players are, we don’t necessarily bring every title to every system. That said, there are also exciting opportunities within our existing catalog."

The four confirmed launches include Civilization 7, set for release on June 5—launch day for the Switch 2—as well as new entries in the NBA 2K and WWE 2K series, though specific titles and release dates have not yet been disclosed. Additionally, Borderlands 4 is scheduled for release on September 12. While none of these were unexpected—Take-Two has previously supported all four franchises on the original Switch—Zelnick’s comments suggest a deeper, more collaborative relationship with Nintendo moving forward.

His remarks also hint at potential future releases from Take-Two’s extensive back catalog. While GTA 6 is unlikely to appear on the Switch 2 due to technical and strategic considerations, the possibility of bringing GTA V to the platform in the future isn’t entirely off the table.
