Speculation Mounts Following Hawk's Announcement

During a recent appearance on YouTube's Mythical Kitchen, the skateboarding legend revealed plans to commemorate the milestone. "I've been talking to Activision again, which is insanely exciting. We're working on something—This is the first time I've said that publicly," he announced. While details remain scarce, Hawk assured fans that the plans will be "something the fans will truly appreciate."

The original Tony Hawk's Pro Skater launched on September 29, 1999, under Activision. The franchise enjoyed immense success, spawning numerous sequels. The 2020 release of the remastered Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 (THPS 1+2) further fueled anticipation. At one point, plans for remastered versions of Pro Skater 3 and 4 were underway, but the project, helmed by the now-defunct Vicarious Visions, was ultimately cancelled.

"I wish I could say we have something in the works," Hawk stated during a 2022 Twitch stream, explaining the cancellation due to Vicarious Visions' closure and Activision's restructuring. He added, "That was the plan, up until the release date of [1+2] we were going to do 3+4 and then Vicarious got absorbed and they were looking for other developers and then it was over."

In the lead-up to the anniversary, the game's official social media channels shared new artwork and announced a giveaway for the THPS 1+2 Collector's Edition.
