While there's no official word from Activision yet, a mysterious countdown timer hidden within Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 suggests that some exciting Tony Hawk's Pro Skater news is on the horizon. The timer is set to expire on March 4, 2025, hinting at an imminent announcement.

Adding to the excitement, Tony Hawk himself hinted at something big in the works during a chat with Mythical Kitchen. He mentioned being in discussions with Activision and teased that "it will be something the fans will truly appreciate." Given the success of the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 remake back in 2020, a follow-up with THPS 3+4 seemed like a natural progression. However, the plans hit a snag when the original developer, Vicarious Visions, was absorbed into Blizzard in 2021 to focus on other projects.

Tony Hawk shared in a 2022 Twitch livestream that Activision had been searching for a new developer to take on the THPS 3+4 project but struggled to find one they trusted as much as Vicarious Visions. "The truth of it is that [Activision] were trying to find somebody to do 3 + 4 but they just didn’t really trust anyone the way they did Vicarious, so they took other pitches from other studios," Hawk explained. "Like, ‘What would you do with the THPS title?’ And they didn’t like anything they heard, and then that was it."

With the Singaporean ratings board listing Activision as both the publisher and developer for the upcoming THPS 3+4 remake, the big question remains: who is actually developing this eagerly awaited collection?
