The recent enhancements in Patch 8.4.0 have significantly boosted his capabilities, making him a more viable option. It's an excellent opportunity to explore the best builds and add-ons for one of horror's most iconic characters.

The Shape: Best Non-Teachable Build (2025)

Playing The Shape without access to other Killers' perks can be challenging, yet rewarding. This build leverages Save the Best for Last to shorten chase times, while Sloppy Butcher slows down the game through passive effects. Bitter Murmur and Hex: No One Escapes Death then allow The Shape to decisively finish off any remaining Survivors during the endgame, without the need for prolonged stalking.

• Save the Best for Last (The Shape) – Gain a token (up to 8) each time you hit a Survivor who isn't the Obsession, reducing your basic attack cooldown by 4% per token, up to a 32% reduction. Hitting the Obsession removes 2 tokens.
• Hex: No One Escapes Death (General Perk) – Once the final generator is completed, all Survivors are exposed and you gain a 4% Haste effect until the Hex Totem is cleansed.
• Bitter Murmur (General Perk) – Reveals the auras of Survivors within 16 meters of a completed generator for 5 seconds. After the last generator is completed, all Survivors' auras are revealed for 10 seconds.
• Sloppy Butcher (General Perk) – Inflicts Mangled and Hemorrhage on Survivors hit by basic attacks, slowing their healing by 25% and causing regression if healing is interrupted.

The Shape: Best Build (2025)

This build is designed to hinder generator progress and provide a strong start to the game, compensating for The Shape's limited map mobility and early game weakness. By focusing on a cluster of generators, you can use Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance and Deadlock to disrupt Survivors' efforts effectively. Lethal Pursuer helps in quickly locating Survivors to start stalking, while Coup de Grâce enhances your ability to navigate loops where The Shape typically struggles.

• Lethal Pursuer (The Nemesis) – At the start of the match, see the auras of all Survivors for 9 seconds, with all aura-reading effects extended by 2 additional seconds.
• Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance (The Artist) – Start with 4 tokens. Hooking different Survivors on a white Scourge Hook consumes a token and causes the generator with the most progress to lose 25% of its progress.
• Deadlock (The Cenobite) – When a generator is completed, the generator with the most progress is blocked for 25 seconds and revealed by a white aura.
• Coup de Grâce (The Twins) – Gain 2 tokens for each completed generator. Use a token to increase your lunge attack distance by 80%.

Memorial Flower

At the common rarity, the Memorial Flower stands out as one of the best add-ons for Michael Myers. It offers a modest yet valuable 11% increase in stalking rate, which can make a significant difference in gameplay.

Dead Rabbit

While it may seem counterintuitive, the Dead Rabbit decreases the Terror Radius by 25% in Evil Within II, which can be a game-changer. However, its increase in the Terror Radius during Evil Within III necessitates pairing it with perks like Monitor and Abuse to manage your presence on the map effectively.

J. Myers Memorial

Considered the second-best add-on for The Shape, J. Myers Memorial provides a substantial 25% boost to stalking gain rate. It is commonly used alongside the Tombstone Piece to mitigate the time required to reach Evil Within III.

Hair Bow

With the Hair Bow, The Shape can increase his threat level during Evil Within III. Combining this with the J. Myers Memorial allows for more frequent and impactful uses of Evil Within III, applying constant pressure on the Survivors.

Tombstone Piece

Arguably the strongest add-on for The Shape, the Tombstone Piece enables immediate kills at Evil Within III, regardless of the Survivor's hook state. This powerful ability can decisively shift the game in your favor, outperforming even the Ultra Rare Judith’s Tombstone due to the absence of a speed penalty.

Lock Of Hair

Lock of Hair extends Evil Within III by an additional 40 seconds, surpassing the Hair Bow by 10 seconds, and also boosts the stalking rate for this state. Although the Hair Bow is typically preferred, Lock of Hair can be a strategic choice when paired with Lethal Pursuer and J. Myers Memorial.

Fragrant Tuft of Hair

Despite drastically reducing the stalking rate by 200%, Fragrant Tuft of Hair grants infinite Evil Within III, eliminating the need for power management. This allows for instant downs without prior stalking, offering a unique and potent gameplay style.
