"Tribe Nine Cancelled Just Three Months Post-Launch"
It's rare for me to express genuine astonishment in my writing, but I believe I echo the sentiment of many when I say I was taken aback by the news of Tribe Nine's impending shutdown. A recent announcement confirmed that the servers for Tribe Nine will be deactivated on November 27th, and any forthcoming updates have been cancelled.
This abrupt closure marks a bitter end for Tribe Nine, which just a few months ago celebrated surpassing ten million downloads. Drawing inspiration from the anime series of the same name and featuring artwork by Danganronpa's Rui Komatsuzaki, the game offered traditional ARPG gameplay alongside the distinctive Xtreme Baseball boss battles cherished by its fanbase.
The sudden termination of Tribe Nine continues a disheartening trend in recent years, where numerous games have been discontinued within a year of their launch. For fans, this recurring pattern makes it challenging to fully invest in new titles, given the looming threat of an end-of-service (EOS) announcement.
Considering that Rui Komatsuzaki's art has also been well-received in Hundred Line -Last Defence Academy- on other platforms, the reasons behind Tribe Nine's cancellation on this service remain unclear. However, this swift termination shortly after its release could potentially harm developer Akatsuki Games' reputation.
With another anime-inspired game, Kaiju No.8: The Game, on the horizon, Akatsuki Games is likely aiming to attract fans of the existing series. However, casual players might hesitate to engage, wary of the possibility of history repeating itself. Regardless, for Tribe Nine enthusiasts, this news is far from celebratory.
