Since Fields of Mistria entered Early Access on Steam, the Deep Woods area has been marked on the town map. However, this location remained inaccessible until the game's March 2025 update. Here's a detailed guide on how to access the Deep Woods and locate Caldarus in Fields of Mistria.

How To Unlock the Deep Woods in Fields of Mistria

To unlock the Deep Woods, you must break the Fire Seal and utilize the new Dragon’s Breath spell to clear the obstructing vines. Here’s how you can achieve this in Fields of Mistria:

1. Gather Required Items: You'll need to place four items on the Priestess’ Fire Seal altar located on Floor 60 in the mines: a Faceted Rock Gem, a Rockroot, an Emerald, and a Sealing Scroll. The first three can be found between floors 50 and 59.

2. Obtain the Sealing Scroll: To secure the Sealing Scroll, collaborate with Juniper and Balor. Leave the following items in the bin by Balor's wagon:

   • x10 Silver Ingots
   • x10 Rubies
   • x10 Sapphires
   • x10 Emeralds

   After leaving these items, talk to Balor again. He will inform you that the scroll will arrive the next day, allowing you to complete the offering.

3. Break the Fire Seal: Once you have all the items, proceed to the altar. Breaking the seal usually results in a message from the Priestess and the unlocking of a new biome. However, this time, the Priestess urges you to leave before the Sealing Scroll traps you inside. With your health low, Caldarus will appear in his human form to assist you, then retreat to his temple in the Deep Woods.

4. Acquire Dragon’s Breath: After Caldarus's appearance, you'll receive the Dragon’s Breath spell. This spell is essential for burning through the vines that block the entrance to the Deep Woods. Equip the spell from the pause menu and activate it at the entrance to permanently unlock the area and other previously inaccessible parts of the map.

How To Find Caldarus

After breaking the Fire Seal, head to the Deep Woods to find Caldarus at his temple. The temple is located north of the Eastern Road on your map. Access the area using the Dragon’s Breath spell. Caldarus’s exact location is marked on your map, similar to other NPCs, in the northeast corner of the area.

To reach him:

1. Enter the Deep Woods: Use the Dragon’s Breath spell to clear the entrance.
2. Navigate to the Temple: Head right inside the entrance and use your axe to chop down the stump blocking your path. Continue north until you reach the temple.

Once the Deep Woods is unlocked, you can fast travel to the area using the Dragon Statue on your farm. The cost is only 10 Essence, making it a convenient way to visit Caldarus without the long journey on foot or horseback. You can also interact with Caldarus via his statue, connecting with him in spirit.
