According to a recent report by Bloomberg, Warner Bros. has canceled an unannounced paid DLC for the popular game, Hogwarts Legacy. The planned story expansion was set to launch this year, alongside a "Definitive Edition" of the game. However, the decision to cancel was made this week, reportedly because the content volume did not justify the proposed price, as per Bloomberg's sources. Warner Bros. did not provide a comment when approached by Bloomberg.

This move comes as Warner Bros. continues to restructure its gaming division amid financial challenges. Earlier in the year, the company made significant cuts, including the cancellation of a Wonder Woman game and the closure of the studio behind it, Monolith Productions. Additionally, WB San Diego and the studio responsible for MultiVersus, Player First Games, were also shut down. In September of the previous year, Warner Bros. laid off employees at Rocksteady, further indicating the company's efforts to streamline operations.

Despite the cancellation of the Hogwarts Legacy DLC, Warner Bros. has emphasized the importance of the Harry Potter franchise and Hogwarts Legacy itself. The company has labeled a sequel to the game as "one of the biggest priorities," signaling a focus on developing fewer but more significant franchises. The original Hogwarts Legacy has achieved impressive sales, surpassing 30 million copies sold, underscoring its value to Warner Bros.
