Xbox Developer Direct 2025: January 23rd Showcase Unveiled

Microsoft has announced the next Xbox Developer Direct, scheduled for January 23rd, marking the first Xbox game showcase of 2025. This will be the third annual Xbox Developer Direct event, following successful showcases in January 2023 and 2024.

The event, starting at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm GMT, was rumored earlier in January, confirming speculation surrounding its timing. The showcase will be streamed on YouTube and Twitch.

Three titles have been officially confirmed for the showcase. South of Midnight, a stylish action-adventure game from Compulsion Games (creators of Contrast and We Happy Few), originally announced in June 2023, may finally receive a release date. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, a turn-based RPG from Sandfall Interactive, targeting a 2025 release, is also confirmed and will be a day-one Xbox Game Pass title. Finally, Doom: The Dark Ages from id Software (announced June 2024 and playable at QuakeCon 2024), is rumored for a mid-2025 release and will also feature.

Previous Developer Directs have lasted over 40 minutes and showcased multiple games. Given this precedent, the 2025 event is likely to include additional unannounced titles, offering further surprises for fans.
